144/365 My Miniature Character Actor

How I wish both of my boys loved the camera as much as this little one does! Lol.

I got to spend a few rare hours with just my small-fry today while Buster B was visiting a friend. We played handball. And Boggle. We went to the markets. And drank sugar cane juice. I took a few photos of him while we hid from the sun under a beautiful old fig tree and I couldn't choose just one. They're a funny little series. So, here I present - what happens when I ask Kingsley Tiger to smile for a photo ;) Enjoy! x

115/365 Introducing Kingsley Tiger

Well my #photoaday2014 for today isn't exactly a photo - it's an illustration! 

I am launching a facebook page for each of my boys - a fun place for them to display their artwork, sketches, lego creations and more. They are pages linked to my own Adventures of a Rainbow Mama account and uploaded by me - with the children supplying the art and inspiration. It's part of my plan for continuing with some of the work and creativity that we focused on while we were homeschooling. A segue from homeschooling to life-learning / world-school / all of the other names I can think of for that subtle division of life between life and school ;) I hope that we will find they integrate well. 

Our Lovely (8) has been creating uber-cute-but-wacky characters since he could first draw. His page is the first to go live and he would love your support!

p.s. Lovely has has the name Lovely since I started this blog when he was a wee babe in arms! I've wanted to change the both of the boys 'blog names' for a while now... and I think now is the perfect time :) Hug's fb page is called Buster B - I'll blog about it in the next few days so stay tuned! - and that will be his new Rainbow Mama name too. Yay! New adventures await... XO

111/365 Night Vision

We are staying on the Sunshine Coast to attend the Voices on the Coast youth literature festival.

And even though we have only been home - and back living the country life - for a month, it's already exciting to stay in an urban environment again for a few nights.

Bright lights. Big city.

Well, not exactly ;) more like bright lights, quiet coastal strip! But still a contrast... and fun.

101/365 Easter Is On It's Way!

L was most pleased with his school Easter crafts. And chocolate eggs! He saved them to bring home and insisted on sharing them with us. Sweet kid.

I love this boy, my Lovebug 8.
He manages to press every-button-I-didn't-even-know-I-had and I still can't help but be madly in love. So funny, so charismatic, so generous, so complex, so beautiful... I love you L. You are one wonderful kid.

90/365 New Adventures

Today.

Today was the first day of our new adventure. Today my beautiful boys started school. Our family's adventures in homeschooling have been some of the most wonderful years of my life. And the most  exhausting, lol, but I am eternally grateful for these extra years spent in each other's gaze. I am taking comfort in the knowledge that we have so much "home-and-world-learning" (as I'm calling it ;) ahead of us together as a family... there are still many adventures to come! They'll just fit around a more traditional schedule of holidays and school hours. 

The best part? Both boys are excited and happy. I am so proud of them :) We picked them up this afternoon, rushed them out for icecream, and - I never thought I'd be saying this but - I think they look super-cute in their uniforms! #love.

Woohoo!

The munchkin is super-excited to have finished Harry Potter 3. After the trials and tribulations of getting through books 1 and 2, he's finally found his flow. #proud. Do you remember the book that made you a READER - or your favourite book series - growing up? x

River Run

Hug and Tulsi weren't the only ones having fun today. 

While the big kids were attending their Film-making for Kids workshop this morning, L and his friend Jyoti were making the most of the low tide on the Brunswick river, finding crab nippers, building sand computers, recreating Wet-and-Wild in the playground in a sudden heavy downpour and basically having a ball. Imaginative play is their forte. Happy days.

School today was week 1 of a kid's filmmaking class for Hug and some serious paper plane folding / berry frappe drinking / cafe sandpit chasies for Master 8 and his friend J :) 

Top and tailed with math sessions and an evening at Scouts. #lifeinmotion

47/365 Let's Bounce

L has been practicing his tennis ball/racket bouncing skills since we arrived here. He's up to something like 412 without a single drop! It seems to be the perfect combination of physical activity and mental stimulation (lots of counting) for his busy brain.
