Invent-a-game

I love when you throw a different kid into the mix and a whole new world of fun emerges. 

When the boys had one of their cousins stay for a sleepover last week they challenged each other to set-up games you might play at a fair.

Basic premise: Invent or redesign a game. Set it up. Sell each other tickets to play. 'Money' may be won as prizes. Person with the most money left at the end wins.

With a stash of Monopoly bucks in hand they got to it. 

There was a basketball shooting game. A card guessing game, a build-a-lego-man game and a balloon pit. 

Serious business ;)

Crocodile Kids

As promised, here is part 2 of yesterdays post: Rabbits and Wombats and Emus Oh My! (aka. the best birthday held anywhere on earth today :) set at Macadamia Castle. 

Time to get serious: dangerous animal handling!

Hello Mr Crocodile.

It's a pleasure to meet you.

This little fellow is a saltwater croc and yes, his mouth was closed with a little bit of tape for safety. He was much smoother than I would have imagined. With an almost velvety feel to the pads of his feet.

Next up, we met this guy. He's a python (though sadly I can't remember which type).

The birthday girl was very confident.

Putt Putt golf in the rain. A nice antidote to wild animals.

Too old for a petit train? Never.

Finally, it was time for pancakes.

What's better than a triple-stack? Not much :)
Especially when they're gluten and dairy-free (buckwheat) pancakes. Hooray!

Hug was the self-proclaimed king of pancakes. Gone in less than 3 minutes. Really.
The rest of us were a little more civilised.

A lovely end to a beautiful day. 

Rabbits and Wombats and Emus Oh My!

The boys and I were lucky special guests at the best birthday party held anywhere on earth today :) Sometimes the best parties are the unexpected and simple ones. 

In honour of this beautiful girl. Miss Eight of Mansted Family Project fame.

First stop was the rabbit petting.

These bunnies were the cutest.

L was so in sync with his pointy-eared friend that his hair magically stood on end ;)

It couldn't possibly be that he forgot to brush it.

On to the chicks (also very popular)...

We even found some love birds!

By the way, have you read any of the Wildwood Chronicles? I had an official confirmation of their greatness from Miss 9 (going on 19) today so I am going to check them out.

Next up we got to meet this awesome guy: Diesel the Wombat.

So funny.

Their impromptu Emu impersonations inspired a request for group photos but I refused to take a photo of an actual Emu. #emusarecreepy.

We asked for some sad faces too. Lol. Dramatics much? ;) I think we have a few budding thespians in this bunch.

I did say that this was the best party didn't I?
